sneak peek before the show

This will be in the 1st Thursday show @ OMA along with the two other totes.

I painted it.
I was sitting outside the very trendy Stardust in Orlando, when I first doodled this.

The totes are made of recycled canvas. I can make more of these. It was fun! I might make myself one at some point.

photo friday no. 3

Today I am sharing a little still life photo I took some time ago.

I like the combination of elements, shapes created by the negative space, etc.

info from Dr. Graham about "Milk + Cookie" Parties in FL

(from Dr. Mimi Graham the Director of FL's Center for Prevention & Early Intervention Policy)

> Dear Friends and Colleagues:
>
> I hope you will join me and lots of other child advocates and interested
> folks in making the well-being and education of our children the state's
> highest priority. This new initiative is called the Children's Movement of
> Florida -- http://childrensmovementflorida.org/ -- and is being spearheaded
> statewide by a large, influential and non-partisan group of state leaders.
>
> A clever spin on the successful "tea parties", this state tour will host
> "milk and cookies" parties across the state starting in Pensacola and going
> to Key West. See the attachment for the dates and times and contacts in your
> location.
>
> Hope you will join me in the one-hour rally on September 7th in Tallahassee
> to raise awareness of and support for the movement. The time: 6 p.m. to 7
> p.m. The place: The Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. The goal is 1000
> people per location in order to attract the media and to make a statement to
> the FL legislature that kids are our priority. Each site will attract
> families and advocates with give aways, local bands & choirs, balloons,
> entertainment, local celebrities, milk & cookies, and buses to get folks to
> the event, etc. It is backed by grants from the Kellogg Foundation among
> several others.
>
> Will you help me to get the word out about the rallies and encourage your
> friends, families, business and social colleagues to attend? No request for
> money and no involvement in campaigns.....Just an hour of your time and
> sending a few emails. Thanks so much! mimi

must-have-monday

I thought I'd try something new to make Mondays a little nicer. Must-Have-Monday is just that; my pick of the week. My first must-have is Scott Pilgrim -- anything!

The game looks great + I am very excited about the upcoming movie: Scott  Pilgrim vs the World.
It looks to be very true to the story and style.
Speaking of, I love the style + have greatly enjoyed the graphic novels.
The book actually lends itself quite well to live action retelling. I love how realistic the dialogue is, how humor is used very liberally,

and that the supernatural events are built-up to slowly.
This lends to a sense of mystery rather than the assumed suspension of belief so common generally with comics.
I will be tearing through the last trade vol. 6 tomorrow!
If you haven't yet I recommend you check it out.
Happy Monday!
